West Coast Bass Reppin’ With JLoki

STAFFMore News, News

Independent label We Got This recently released rising west coast bass music producer JLoki’s debut EP Pentalpha. On Pentalpha, JLoki demonstrates his abilities as a producer by combining elements of bass, trap, future, downtempo, and a myriad of other genres, resulting in an EP, which is hypnotizing from start to finish. I recently had the chance to catch up with JLoki about the release of Pentalpha, his career as an independent solo producer, and more.

What are you listening to right now?

Rap music is a big influence to music and everyday life, I’ve been listening to Gunna, Valee, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Ghostemane and Yound Dolph to name a few. As for producers I love Journal, Dj Smokey, Taso, Trevor Kelly, and Shlump to name some of my favorites at the moment.

Why did you choose the artist name JLoki and why is the EP called Pentalpha

My name and album name both strain from a dark demonic place. Loki is a Nordic demigod and Pentalpha is a synonym of Pentagram, like the one you see made out of bones on the album art. I come from a hardcore music background so I will probably stay to my roots and always keep things dark.

Which artists do you wish you could work with dead or alive?

Some artists I would love to see myself work with would be Metro Boomin or Murda Beats being that they are the most influential producers to my music and I. I tend to analyze their music pretty in depth and take notes when it comes to bass lines, melodies and the style of sounds they are using and then implement that to my own works and in my own ways.

What are you most looking forward to for the rest of 2018? Do you think you will tour?

2018 is the year I take a step back and really focus on spending a lot of time in the studio, and try and crank out a few more albums. Playing shows is definitely getting put on the back burner, but I have been talking with an artist I dearly look up to about hoping on his tour for a few dates as direct support.

Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know?

To my fans or anyone who just genuinely just likes my music, thank you for the support and love on the new album. Also a big Shout out to We Got This Music for all the love and energy that went into this project. Thank you.
