Owner of Funktion One Sound Systems, Tony Andrews will be leading a sound quality workshop at this year’s Brighton Music Conference in the UK. The BMC Academy masterclass will delve into best practices and how to perfect your sound.

Andrews, who describes himself as “a loudspeaker designer first and company owner second”, co-founded Funktion One in 1992. He was named the Lifetime Achievement winner at last year’s Pro Sounds Awards. Along with his wife Ann, Tony will also be interviewed as part of the conference’s pro talks.

Other Academy talks – aimed at “young people, students or new artists looking to break into the industry” – include how to earn a living from music, hosted by the PRS for Music, and a Horus Music seminar on syncing that will discuss “why music supervisors love electronic music”.

Now in its fifth year and taking place across five theatres at The Brighton Dome, BMC runs from Wednesday, April 25 to Saturday, April 28. Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records will be hosting a day full of production workshops, including a demo drop, Beatport will deliver its annual report during the conference and there will be plenty of kit and software to play around with in the exhibition hall. Ticket prices range from $38 to $214.
