BCM Planet Dance Shut Down By Town Hall Inspectors In Mallorca, Spain

BCM Mallorca aka BCM Planet Dance, voted 2nd best nightclub in the DJ Mag Top 100  just a few years ago has been shut down as final touches were being executed this week for the spring / summer season grand opening. Calvià town hall ordered the “total closure” due to irregularities detected by town hall inspectors following the review of the urban licenses.

The order states that BCM has “a relevant omission of data, specifically with reference to cooling towers and other installations that, because they lack a licence, are illegal”. The town hall stated that this closure is also related to the revision of its license to open and operate BCM. Both procedures are being instructed by the town hall in the area of criminal proceedings being handled by court number 12 in Palma.

This is the second club that has been shut down belonging to Bartolome Cursach, who was imprisoned March 3rd. Palma town hall issued an order to close Tito’s (another Cursach venue) on the Paseo Mallorca on health and safety grounds last week.

The judge who is handling the case, Manuel Penalva, has charged Cursach and the recently replaced director general of his group of companies, Tolo Sbert, with sixteen felonies for allegedly directing a plot to secure his dominance in the night-time entertainment sector with the assistance of police officers and municipal officials at Palma and Calvià town halls.

Word on the street is that the nightlife group should be able to open up just a week or so behind, if they are able to acquire necessary permits. BCM was scheduled to open for the spring/summer season April 13th – but as of now will not be open by then.
